Funny things happen in fundraising
The laws of unintended consequences in the world of philanthropy
This is Funder Follies, a weekly newsletter of fundraising stories and unintended consequences in the world of doing good. We share down-to-earth tales (funny strange, funny haha, and just plain fun stories) that happen in the name of doing good. No naming or shaming, just some good old storytelling and shared community for those of us working in the world of fundraising.Â
We’re here because funny things do happen in fundraising. And we know that most nonprofits can’t talk about them with their funders because … that might result in no more funding. So this is a safe place to share, learn, laugh. It’s not hoity-toity. Your voice is welcome. We invite subscribers to add their stories in the comments. (No naming. This is to share what happened or lessons learned, not to shame or blame.)
Whether you give money away, get money for a nonprofit, are just curious, or a little of all three, we hope you’ll enjoy our short weekly tales of fundraising. And I bet you have some of your own – please comment, share, email us and tell others to visit!
If you raise money for a nonprofit, help give money to nonprofits, or have ever made a donation with your own money to a nonprofit, Funder Follies is for you.
